Alterations to the Arts Block

An existing concrete framed 1960’s school building was being refurbished to provide additional classroom and office space. This involved the removal of existing walls and an additional storey to the entrance of the courtyard.

Spreading the load

Croft designed a reinforced concrete ring beam on the existing building to help spread the loading of the additional floor across the building

Managing the Construction

Due to the short construction period available between school terms; a close working relationship was required between the Architect, Contractor and School with Croft as the lynchpin to the earlier stages of the work. Our engineers were made available to answer questions at short notice to ensure that the construction programme was completed on time.
