Substantial redevelopment in Fulham SW6
A substantial redevelopment of an existing three storey Victorian property, comprising of a rear extension, loft conversion and new basement.
Structurally Challenging
Structurally, the most challenging aspect of the project was the new basement development. This involved constructing a concrete box with retaining walls and a slab, creating an open-plan area of 100m². The new mansard roof was built using timber, incorporating a timber floor and steel elements for additional support. The extension featured masonry cavity walls and a beam-and-block floor system. To ensure lateral stability at the rear of the property, a portal frame was integrated into the design.

A methodical approach
A carefully planned approach was adopted to position the new structure with minimal disruption to the existing building. Croft developed and proposed the necessary temporary works, enabling the safe excavation and construction of the new basement while minimising the risk of cracking in the masonry above.
