Maximising space

A conversion of a substantial Victorian property into apartments in North London. The overall footprint was enlarged by adding a basement and a rear extension which allowed for an entire apartment to be added to the property. Croft provided the structural design details and drawings for this project, including the construction method statement.

Benefits of Ground Investigations

The Ground investigation was competed and nothing untoward was found. However, during construction, an area of soil soaked with mercury was discovered: some cottage industry in the past had been pouring mercury through the floor to dispose of it.

Having the GI in place allowed the client to prove to the HSE that they had undertaken reasonable investigative measures before proceeding with work on site.
