Wonderful example of mixing old with new

This rear extension in Reigate is a wonderful example of mixing old with new. The client's initial thoughts were that of a traditional extension with pitched roofs and bi-fold doors, but after several design discussions we were able to develop a proposal that gave them a balcony space instead of a pitched roof which doubled their area and gave them the prime views across the garden

Stability of the structure

The stability of the structure was relying on the steelwork frame whilst achieving a minimal look with exposed slender columns and hidden steelwork. This required complex steelwork connections and a series of bracing was introduced at the ceiling level to tie the structure together.

Concluded Investigations

Croft has vast experience in dealing with all manner of ground conditions. Our investigations concluded the foundations needed to be deep enough to deal with the proximity of the Leyland trees and to ensure that differential movement would not occur. This project has been widely published across multiple publications including ‘Real Homes’ and ‘Build it magazine’.
