Victorian Extension,
Hammersmith & Fulham NW10
Our largest flank wall removal of 9.5m (31 foot) has been completed. The client wanted to remove the flank wall to the Victorian property to enclose the side alley. A large open plan kitchen and dining area was planned.
To achieve this massive length of wall removal jacking was required. Croft design and detailed a special on site process. The steel work was inserted and then the steel was jacked down like a bow being drawn. Once in the correct deflected shape steel packing was added between the steels and the wall. This process minimised any sagging that may occur upstairs and allowed for light and cheaper steelwork to be used.
By using this method we managed to reduce the build cost of the project. The overall reduction was greater than our fee! Employing us saved money. Just remember not all engineers are the same . . . Croft is better.
