Victorian Conversion, Brixton Rd

Victorian Conversion, Brixton Rd

This building was suffering from significant neglect over a number of years. The building fabric was in a poor condition and numerous repairs were required.

The design required a new storey to be added to the building. To the rear of the building an additional three storeys were built on top of the old garage.

A detailed survey was completed of the building from which repair details were specified. The calculations and drawings were completed for the conversion of the upper floors into flats.

It was fortunate that the garage foundations were deep. Detailed calculations were undertaken on the loadings to the rear garage foundations, and Croft Structural Engineers Ltd were able to prove that the footimgs were acceptable for the new load. This allowed for a significant cost and time saving to the project.
