New basement & complete refurbishment

Holland Villas is a six-storey detached villa in Kensington. Croft worked with Intelitrade on the design of the new basement and complete refurbishment of the upper floors. The main challenges we encountered were below ground with a full footprint basement extending into the rear garden. The removal of a large section of the flank and rear walls required the design of suitable stability frames.

Significant internal remodelling

Due to the significant amount of internal remodelling, a metal deck floor was designed internally on the ground floor and in-situ concrete floors externally. The metal deck floor and the concrete slabs not only provide robust floors but also provide propping to the retaining walls. The top prop retaining walls are economical as these reduce the thickness of concrete and the amount of reinforcement.

33m

33m long and 16m wide makes this an impressive basement development.

Supervision & Monitoring

Croft monitored the building continuously during the basement construction. We reviewed the monitoring reports sent by the monitoring company and gave advice to ensure that the basement construction did not affect the neighbouring buildings and the property. Croft were involved in supervision of the works by contractors to ensure that the works were carried out according to the design.
