Hoxton Bakery
Design & Build Commercial Extension
The family run firm had owned the premises for generations, and to diversify the company, rental properties were required.
The project required the placing of 3 new storeys on top of the single storey bakery. This is hard enough, but just to make it a little harder, the existing Victorian footings could not be strengthened, and the bakery had to stay in operation and open to the public throughout the works! This was a tall order. Croft completed the initial survey and soil investigations, and provided schemes for the new build. A concrete ring beam was utilised to spread the load around the existing walls onto the footings under.
This commercial extension was completed under a Design and Build contract.
The flats were completed on time and the bakery remained open throughout.
