Basement Under A Georgian Property
This grade II listed property is built in central Chelsea, only a stones throw from Stamford Bridge. The building is over 200 years old and required significant renovation and enlargement.
Due to Croft Structural Engineers expert knowledge we were called upon to complete the repairs, and also the basement works to the property.
To form the basement, every wall on the ground floor had to be removed and the building extended out into the existing coal cellars. After the survey it was decided to rebuild the cellars with reinforced concrete walls and floors.
The pictures show that at one point the entire building was propped and the new steelwork inserted after which the walls were constructed.
A fine basement was provided for the client. The Architect also helped to provide a very open and light feel to the works.
