Basement to Qatar Embassy

Basement to Qatar Embassy, Westminster W1K

While Croft have a specialist procedure developed over the years for forming basements under buildings, sometimes this has to change. At the Qatar embassy we had the luxury of forming a new build basement.

With the complications of an existing building-over removed, Croft were free to consider alternative methods of construction. To reduce costs and decrease the construction time shotcrete concrete was specified. The basement was formed with a method first developed by Swiss tunnelers.

It was a classic example of thinking outside the box, not being restrained by previous methods and trains of thought.

Every project is considered on its merits, and never should an old technique be shoe-horned in without consideration.
