An early Victorian property was renovated. A new basement was formed under the building. The basement was to have open sides to the small garden. Steel frames were inserted under the building. The floors were strengthened. External walls were suffering from age, but the skills of the engineers at Croft allow them to be strengthened and their life extended.

Design & build contract of 9
new flats above existing shops for a private client. The most
difficult item of this project was to keep the bakery open and operating on the
ground floor while the works were completed upstairs.
To do this the existing structure had to remain on the ground floor. To space transfer the loads around the property a concrete ring beam was cast on the first floor from which the upper floors were built. the whole project was completed with the bakery not loosing a days trade. |
